Chicago Park District Headquarters
The Chicago Park District relocated their headquarters and nearly 750 employees from a location adjacent to Soldier Field to a beautiful 5 ˝ floor space at 541 N. Fairbanks. Commercial Resources Construction executed the build-out of the 5 ˝ floors, eight new base building core restrooms, the Chicago Park District ground-floor lobby, and an outdoor plaza with signage.
CRC took the leadership role in coordinating the reworking of the exterior skin of the building, as well as the installation of two floors of exterior windows and the interior finishes of the exterior wall. CRC was also responsible for coordinating all non-contracted trades, including security, audiovisual, furniture, and teledata and server rooms. The project presented several unique design features, including clear ceilings, custom light troffers, graphics, exhibits, and a $1.5 million millwork package that we value engineered to save the Park District $250,000.
Due to the Park District’s prior lease commitments, we needed to finish the project in 14 weeks. CRC has a team that includes former millwork project managers that were able to collaborate with the architect and the Park District to achieve an intact design at a lower cost and on schedule.
